Hello everyone! I would like to ask is it okay to have a co sponsor for K1 fiancee visa? I read some posts in the internet that it's not allowed especially in Manila, Philippines and also in Bangkok, Thailand. Is t true? Or it depends? We're afraid that my fiance's income might not reach the poverty guidelines in USA so he asked his mom to be our co sponsor and his mom said yes. She'll help us and be our co-sponsor. My fiance is still living with her since he's still in the process of looking for a new house to live. I'm from Philippines but I'm working here in Thailand and I'm planning to do the process here. I hope someone can answer my questions. Thank you so much.

It is true that co-sponsors are generally not allowed for K1s in those countries, though it does depend on the situation, and having a close family member such as mom co-sponsor does increase the chances of that being accepted. The other factor is WHY your fiance doesn't make enough money right now, for example if he keeps getting fired and only has part time jobs, chances of approval are lower, but if he is a student and about to graduate in a field where he will likely get a well paying job easily in a few months, chances of a co-sponsor being accepted are better.
