Email Processing for NVC

Hi everyone, our I-130 was just approved yesterday and we are getting our documents together for NVC while we wait for NVC to receive our approved petition. I read on the travel.state.gov website that there is email processing available at the NVC stage for the following embassies: ADD, BNS, FRN, GTM, HNK, KEV, MRV, PHP, RDJ, SYD, TGG, or THT.

Since BNS is our embassy, and it is on the list, I am definitely going to do email processing because I have heard it is faster. Does anyone have any experience with email processing, and if so, would you be able to detail your experience i.e. process for submitting the documents with email processing and how long it took for your case to be completed.

I am most interested in knowing how much time can be saved at the NVC stage by doing email processing as opposed to mail processing, that way I can figure out roughly how long we still have to wait in this whole process. Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to give me any information you might have.

I did. Not only is faster but also cheaper since you do not need to spend $ with international postage fees. Just be sure that all of your documents are in the right format (PDF) and are named correctly. The NVC case number, first and last name (petitioner or beneficiary), and the name of the document as described in the document cover sheet (that also needs to be sent by email). Ex: BNS2016999999_John_Smith_Birth_Certificate; or BNS2016999999_Susan_Smith_Tax_Transcript.

Each document needs to be a separate pdf file (but if the tax return has 5 pages, all the pages need to be in the same file).

There are some instructions on the NVC website: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-scanning-faqs.html

In my case, after I sent all the documents, I had a case complete after 3 weeks, but I heard that the process usually takes 6 weeks. Just make sure that you are sending all the required documents, in the right format to avoid any delays.

Good luck!

You're welcome! Just have everything scanned and ready to be sent as soon as the fees are paid and the online forms are submitted.

I completely agree with Chewbacca!!! My husband is in Germany (FRN) and we recently did email processing. Its like night and day with mail processing. Even with a checklist, from the time we submitted to case complete was a matter of about 2 weeks, vs. 8-12 which is what most people in NVC are dealing with right now.

My tips are the same. Use the NVC naming convention Chewbacca mentioned for all of your documents and you can put some text like this in the body of the email (I found something similar from VJ). If you need to do 2 emails like I did, write "email 1 of 2" and "email 2 of 2" in the subject of each. Send them very close together. You'll get a CC fast! :)

Wow, 2 weeks vs 12?! That's amazing. Suddenly not as worried about waiting for NVC. I will definitely be using email for this last stage.

Still cuts the crazy long wait down tremendously, I'll take it haha. Especially after waiting over six months for our petition to be approved. NVC should be a walk in the park after USCIS.
