Thank you burhan_rethinker and glmg21 for your reply!

I figured my case might fit the "cultural and social interests" criteria.

If I am not mistaken, I would only be able to expedite it for the USCIS stage, but not the NVC and Embassy stage, right?

Cultural and social interest for "Non profit" -- Yes, you could try.

They accept expedite at NVC and embassy stage as well.

Wait until your interview date.

+1

Suggest adding your country to your profile as medical exams are country specific. For example in China you are not allowed to schedule your medical until you have received your package from the consulate. I would look at your country's portal for advice on medical.

April 22, 2020 - I-751 sent

April 23, 2020 - I-751 received at Lockbox

April 29, 2020 - Check cashed
??? - didn’t receive text or email confirmation. Ugh!

Thanks a lot! The film festival does happen to be a non profit. I will go ahead and give it a try.

I guess so. Else @geowrian would've posted something. As pointed out, USCIS might have been off today due to a holiday.

Hopefully more approvals tomorrow.

Correct. There were 0 cases touched in my list yesterday. I re-ran my scan at 1:30 AM EST and got the same results (0 cases touched).

Hmm, am not sure what this means, but it doesnt seem to indicate that USCIS office closed. It seems to be saying that "if" any USCIS office changed its hours of operation blah blah...nevertheless, I am anxious to know whats going on esp since we couldnt even get Goe's report and then there is this thing of a whole week of Naturalization ceremonies

Sorry for not posting a full report like usual. There were 0 updates yesterday.

Looks like it'll still be a while until USCIS get to my application. Do you guys know if I could do the medical test now? Do I have to wait until I have my interview date?

I don't have much to do at home right now and thought I might as well get that out of way.

Technically, you can do it now. However, note that the embassy normally wants the medical within 6 months of the interview,  and the K-1 visa will expire 6 months after the medical as well. Getting it done this early is risking having to do a new medical or making a very tight timeframe to use the K-1.

Does anyone know anything about expediting the process? My film is screening in a big film festival in the U.S. early April, and I would really like to be in attendance. I figured it's probably not a valid reason for immigration purpose?

Another user posted the exact criteria already (thanks!!!), That said, I am doubtful an expedite would be granted for that purpose, unfortunately. Generally expedites are for things like severe/life-threatening medical conditions, war, severe financial loss,, etc. It can also take weeks to months to hear back on a decision, and only applies up to the NOA2....a new expedite is needed for NVC. Given your filing date, I would assume you will hear back within the next few weeks or so already.

True, but that's the norm when a thread gets too large. I see it as a badge of honor. :P

Holy smoke! Our thread got so big we got a part 2. This is a great group of folks here helping each other out and I am so glad to have found it. Thanks to all the posters who have provided information and those that are sharing their journey here. It certainly has made my journey easier reading everyone's updates each day.

I think Jim will be proud of what he started when he gets back from paradise!

Not sure if Philipines is a paradise but all depends how one would look at it. Surely this trend kips us sain.

Thanks geowrian! I might wait a little longer for the medical. The idea of still not having my interview 6 months from now is truly horrifying though... lol

Hello All,

I received a RFE on yesterday. Although it's not what I wanted, I'm glad to know someone looked at my file.

Thanks for the update! Did you receive the RFE in the mail or just the electronic notice?  If it was the electronic notice, then at least it confirms they processed cases yesterday despite their system not showing any updates.

Yes it was electronic and it had the date of the 14th. I was shocked. Such a relief
