I think it just means they will post any closings if there were to come up. So let's patiently wait for the approvals tonight

It seems unlikely that USCIS, an organisation that employs over 19,000 members of staff, would entirely cease operations for a naturalisation ceremony. These kinds of ceremonies happen all of the time, and likely wouldn't be attended by all adjudicators from a single service center on a single day. While it's true that the office will close for President's Day, that's not until next week!

Hey guys, I'm new here, I've been following this post on and off. Still waiting for my NOA 2 as well (NOA1 date 12/03 and received date 11/25)

Looks like it'll still be a while until USCIS get to my application. Do you guys know if I could do the medical test now? Do I have to wait until I have my interview date?

I don't have much to do at home right now and thought I might as well get that out of way.

Sorry, another question,

Does anyone know anything about expediting the process? My film is screening in a big film festival in the U.S. early April, and I would really like to be in attendance. I figured it's probably not a valid reason for immigration purpose?

Hi,

Congratulations on your movie.

Hope it is a massive success.

About expediting your process, maybe this below will answer your question.

Expedite Criteria

USCIS reviews all expedite requests on a case-by-case basis and requests are granted at the discretion of the office leadership. The burden is on the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met.

USCIS may expedite a petition or application if it meets one or more of the following criteria:

  • Severe financial loss to company or person;
  • Emergency situation;
  • Humanitarian reasons;
  • Nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States;
  • Department of Defense or national interest situation (These particular expedite requests must come from an official U.S. government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to the government.);
  • USCIS error; or
  • Compelling interest of USCIS.

In theory there's nothing stopping you from doing the medical test now, but you should be aware that embassies and consulates typically require it to be taken no more than 6 months before the date of your interview. The results will expire after this point, and you'll have to pay for another one if your interview takes place after that point. Another thing to consider is that doctors will often send your results directly to the Embassy; doing this without a ready case or even a case number might cause problems.

It's unlikely I think. Expediting isn't really a thing any more, and if it is it's only in the case of emergencies, special cases, etc.

Thank you burhan_rethinker and glmg21 for your reply!

I figured my case might fit the "cultural and social interests" criteria.

If I am not mistaken, I would only be able to expedite it for the USCIS stage, but not the NVC and Embassy stage, right?
