Oh man, I was checking it under NonImmigrant because there I could chose what my embassy will be. Will then once my case leave the NVC change to NonImmigrant?

Honestly im not sure at all

i too had click nonimmigrant than I realize there example of the case number didn't match the ones NVC gave me thus I tired Immigrant (IV) option.

Hey Priscila How are you??

So the reason that I came here today it's to update my timelime and tell you that me and my ex fiance didn't work out. Unfortunately, he wanted me to take to TOEFL (Linguistic test of proficiency) he wanted me to get ready to get to go to school right after I get in US. I was supposed to get 78 in the test for the school that he wanted me to go to, but i only could get 68 on the test, yeah it sound weird and crazy, and actually it is, he totally based our love on a stupid test score, 2 years of a relationship and so many amazing and unforgettable moments he throw on the trash. I still can't believe that he did such a thing. I took that test on March 11th, and the score came out on the 21st, he got really disappointed with me, and on March 23rd the NOA 2 got APPROVED, but he said he wasn't moving forward with the petition until I get 78 on my TOEFL test, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with the visa. Well I think he does't love me then if he base our relationship on a test.

Now, our petition is there with the APPROVED status, but I don't know what to do, because only him as the petitioner can either go forward and or cancel it. He said he is not going to cancel neither, he want to be with me so if i really want go forward with this process I have to take the test again.

What a nightmare, after living 1 year and 4 months in a long distance relationship, he did that to me. I'm totally broke.

Good luck for you and everybody that got the lucky to have a guy that has true love not based on a score test.

So sorry to hear this...

I am an English teacher, and I can tell you that TOEFL is very difficult to prepare to on your own. If you ever decide to take it again, feel free to PM me, I can help you. I am not saying that your fiance's demand is valid, but maybe there is some miscommunication between you, a lot of people don't understand what this test involves. I tested the speaking part on my American fiance - and he failed it! Not because he can't speak, he is well-educated, he was born and raised in the US, but the requirements are quite peculiar.

Really? That's odd for sure.  We had no problem with the packet 3 email as well.  The packet 4 return email came back literally 12 hours later.

Could you screen print the email reply they sent you.  At either rate, sounds like you're still good to go.  It just may take a bit longer than 12 hours until you receive your packet 4 information.

Here is a screenshot of the email I received. I'm not sure if it means they haven't gotten our case yet (though I checked a thousand times and our case said "Ready") or if they are actually waiting to send the hard copy of the packet 3 letter.

Girl, I feel for you, I really do!  What your fiance said, that he wouldn't move forward the visa process until you retake TOEFL and get the certain results, sounds like a blackmailing to me. He is wrong! But while I understand your frustration, I want to give you another perspective.

I believe your fiance cares for you, and want you adjast well in the new country. He wants you to learn the language, and get a degree, which will help you in the future to gain confidence, independece, financial stability, etc. But he should have supported and ecouraged you instead of blackmailing you with delaying the petition.

Girl, do not give up so easily. Despite what you think right now, TOEFL is very easy, even primitive. The key to a good score is vocabulary. This is coming from someone who prepared for the test and scored 104. Please, google "400 essential words for TOEFL", or invest in the book. When you learn those 400 words, you'll pass the test with flying colors. Knowing the words will let you score very high on Reading and Listening. Judging by your post, your writing is fine, therefore you shouldn't have problems with Writing either. Just make sure you know the requiraments for the essays. To train for Speaking you can google the list of sample questions, and try to work on them with your fiance on skype (that's what we did). Hundreds of thousands people take TOEFL every year, and get decent scores. Why you shouldn't be one of them? You totally can do that! If you want to start new life in America, you need to put some effort in it.

If you can't afford to talke classes, there are plenty of online sites to help you to prepare. Please, check here

Talk to your fiance and explaine him, that blackmailing rarely works in relationships, while mutual support, encouragement, and respect always do. You still have plenty of time till the final stage of the visa process to prepare for TOEFL. Give it a try. Good luck to you!

This is truly odd.  I followed many Canadian K1 Visa filers here on VJ before me, and have never heard of this happening.  The day our CEAC status showed "Ready", my fiance and I downloaded the online packet 3 information, emailed the 3 requested documents, and received our packet 4 email with no problems.  My fiance did not receive her paper packet 3 in the mail for 2 weeks after we sent our emailed packet 3 documents.

The question remains: will you have to resend the packet 3 information again once you receive the paper packet 3?  Or, will they just process the packet 3 email you have already sent, and will receive a packet 4 email once they have processed it?

I'd recommend posting your situation in the Canada sub-forum:

When our status switched to 'Ready', I also sent in the packet 3 info to Montreal however we didn't receive Packet 4. After 3-4 days, they sent the Packet 3 email so I resubmitted the checklist and we got our Packet 4 email that night. I'm not sure why it works for some people and not others but don't be too worried-they will email you Packet 3 in the next few days hopefully!

18 days after approval we have our NVC number and ours is on its way to the embassy in Zimbabwe :) We had already completed one of the two police clearance forms, and scheduled his medical for May 10th, without our NVC number, trusting we would have it in time.  We planned for him to move from South Africa to Zimbabwe on May 5th, without having our NVC number, trusting it would come.  So he leaves for Zimbabwe on May 5th to complete these last few items on our checklist before he comes home to me in GA.  This was our toast on our one year anniversary in this crazy good love story...and soon very soon, I'll be his wife :)

This week has been exhausting for my fiancee and I. We are both mentally and emotionally exhausted between this entire process and having to wait this long to be together, horrible internet connections and not being able to contact each other decently for 9 months, plus the constant conflict that is his baby momma and child, and the fact that he's worked for 2 different people in the past month and one of them still hasn't paid him what he is owed. He barely has money to purchase food after his child support. I'm just breaking down at this point, I know we will be together in a couple of weeks but right now its just hard and I'm emotionally and mentally drained, together we are so strong, separated we are still strong but every day that passes gets harder and harder
