Hi all,

Does it matter the type of birth certificate you send in?

I'm sending in the "short form" .. At the top it says "Certificate of Vital Record" and it has that I was born in Houston, TX. I'm also sending in all the pages from my passport so they can see the stamps of when I went to see my fiance and also stating that I'm a U.S. Citizen. Will this be enough? Or, should i order my long form birth certificate and send that in as well?

Also, will we need his son's birth certificate even though he won't be immigrating at all?

I think the US citizen only needs to send birth certificate OR passport, so if you send both the short version of the bc and copies of all pages in your passport you should probably be fine.

I used the short form of "Vital Records" and supplied a copy of the bio page of my US passport, that was sufficient for us.

He should get a copy of his son's birth certificate yes, it has been asked for before regardless of whether or not the child is immigrating or planning to. This is generally asked for at the interview though to my understanding, not the I-129F petition phase.
