Can I get an extension?

Hi everyone, 

I need some help. Wife here on B2 with i130 at NVC. She's pregnant and now doctor says she cannot travel. can she get an extension? B2 expires April 1st. Anyone has similar experience? Thanks

Medical inability to travel is a good reason for an extension; get the doctor to write a letter, and ideally get a second opinion stating same.

Yes.  Just be aware that she should stay out of the USA for about 12 months or however long she's been visiting for afterwards

So if her priority date becomes current she'll still have to wait 12 months before entering the US ? Thanks for your time

About that.  Out longer than in is always preferable.

 

also it's important that her birth and medical care is not paid for by Medicare or emergency Medicare.  She may have to pay it all back before re entry

Begs the question how far along is she.. and if she has med insurance?

Good idea to include her Travel Insurer's agreement to pick up the costs, no insurer is going to want to do that unless they are certain she can not travel.

I'm actually shocked because when I was in a similar situation I had excellent travelers insurance and ended up having to pay out of pocket for the majority of our expenses.
