ssn verifcation ?

we went to the ssn office tueday to apply for ssn we got a receipt letter saying we applied and they needed to confirm the docs we gave them im guessing they mean the I 94 & k1 visa to dhs, once they confirm they'll send out my fiancé's ssn card , the letter said it may take 4 weeks but when I asked they said within this month we should get it . They weren't able to put my fiancé's full middle name as it seemed It was too long ,but im guessing when we get the card itll be fine. The guy told us that  there system had a character limit , so its a common thing when most ppl apply some have long names and there not able to fit everything. lucky for us it was only her middle name that was too long her last name and first name were fine

 

 

im hoping it wont take long , is that receipt letter thing normal?

Same thing happened to me. My first name consists of three names and was too long.. I got the same letter. In the end it took 8 weeks to verify. I applied in November and got the card in December. Idk if the response time from USCIS SAVE team has gotten shorter since then but hopefully. I was cutting it close to the -94 expiration due to this. I can't understand why they don't update the SAVE software to not have chr limits since it ends up being a big processing delay and increased burden on them as well. It's not like it's a new problem... it's beyond dumb.

so when you got it was everything spelled correctly and everything?  luckily we don't need he ssn to marry, but of course I wanted to apply for ssn quickly , good thing I did , hopefully we get it this month or march ,the office we went to was a pretty fast office ,compared to what ive heard from the office in charlotte north Carolina

Do you know if they scanned in your documents (level 2 SAVE verification) or if they sent of the papers with the G-845 form by mail (level 3 SAVE verification)?

Yes, there was no problem writing the name on the actual card.. it's all about the software used for verification. If they send it by mail, the office doesn't matter. They send it off to California, it's their time that matters, in this case.

ok, so if they didn't need to send it by mail, then hopefully it will be faster and you shouldn't have a problem

They can still get promted after 3-5 business days to submit by mail. If I were you I would give them a call next week or so and ask them what SAVE verification level/method they needed to use

Depends on the requirement for the DMV in your state. Texas require SSN so I had to wait, but some don't. Look at their website. Some states you can get a temporary license with 30 days left on i-94 and then use NOA1 from AOS to renew... but it all depends on the state regulations. I'd research NC license here and the web and maybe call them too and ask if you can't find good info.

Also confirm with your post office your fiance address, we even put the sticker inside of the mailbox with our names living here. SSN was mailed to us but the postman sent it back as the person not living here, post office is very picky about government documents

yah already talked to our mail person in our apartment complex, wrote my fiances name on our mailbox notecard too

Update after 7 business days we got a letter in the mail saying well get ssn card in 2 weeks , just glad it did take long to verify the i 94
