Do i need to send letter of invitation for my mother in law and aunt to visit?

Does the application need a cover letter?

Any direct information from Morocco is helpful

Yes and invitation letters can actually do more harm than good for strict countries.

The DS-160 is online, so there is no way to attach a cover letter.

An invitation letter is not needed and is of no value since anyone can type one and sign it.  Anyone with a pen in Morocco can write an invitation letter and sign it and claim that he/she is someone else.

Furthermore, the reasons for wanting a visa to visit the US is irrelevant.  The US Embassy is concern about the applicant's strong ties to Morocco to overcome the legal presumption that all applicants intend to illegally immigrate to the US.
