K1 Visa expiration date

I already searched through the forum and got mixed results.

Does the actual K1 visa expire 6 months after your medical or after the issuance? I'm finally one step away from getting the visa and they asked for another medical/interview but I want to move during Labour Day and not before plus I have travel plans in April.

If it goes by medical I would have to wait until April to do it but if it's by issuance date I could start gathering everything now. Just trying to prep everything right now.

The medical typically good for a year.... the expiration of the K-1 itself goes by the medical.

However, just looked at your timeline. You might want to double-check with the embassy that they will allow you to continue the visa processing so late. Usually they cannot extend the validity of the i129f petition by more than a year.

Important to note that the expiration of the K1 is set no later than 6 months from the date of the medical. The medical is valid for 1 year for AOS purposes.

We thought the same thing! I sent multiples emails throughout the year to ensure it was still valid and they said yes to not worry about it each time surprinsingly.

They asked me today to send in a new medical/police certificate, to update my DS160 (which expires this August) and evidence that we're still getting married. Once I send those in I'll have to go do another interview to get my visa.
