Police Clearance for Dubai now needed?

Based on THIS THREAD here:

It appears that some embassies - at least the one in GHANA - is requiring Dubai certificates of conduct now.

Can anyone who has done the interview in Manila recently been required for a Dubai certificate of good conduct?   (Obviously only if you have traveled there for longer than 6 months)

I agree with Greenbaum and Sagot  that this is not required in the Manila embassy.... I am thinking that this is only a Ghana requirement.   The website for reciprocity STILL CLAIMS that this requirement is waived for UAE:

Police Records

Available, only if applicant is physically present in the UAE.

Police certificates may be obtained by any person, regardless of nationality, by personally appearing at the Central Police Headquarters located in the emirate of residence or former residence. When appearing to request a police certificate, the applicant should provide recent photographs, a letter from the requesting authority, the date of residence in the emirate, and their passport.

Not available by mail. Post recommends that consular officers waive the general requirement to obtain police certificates unless the applicant lives in the UAE.

Prison Records

Unavailable.

LOL.  Knew you were going to say that...

The really sucky part of it all is that the interview at USEM is on Feb 8th - and the link I quoted above from MrsBoateng29 - they just were requested for it at the USEM in Ghana.   I think its a GHANA thing though.   Im sure someone who has been interviewed recently from the Philippines USEM would have been screaming already if they were asked for this.

Im just nervous of getting thrown a wrench in our interview - and this is one big nasty wrench if it was thrown.   Believe me - when she comes back from the interview I will relate if it was asked for or not.   If it was asked for - we probably wont be able to print my thoughts.   LOL.

Bad info in that posting.  Department of State is where that police info comes from, and DOS also governs the embassies (ALL the embassies).  It would appear that the CO at the Ghana embassy was ill informed, and needed to have the "facts" presented to him/her.

Dubai is a waiver country.
