If you understood the pain and effort that it takes to learn Russian as a second language.....maybe it would make sense! :halloween:

Also, it is weird when you know Cyrillic that you can't "unsee" it once you know what the letters actually mean. The joke is lost on us. I really had to strain to understand what it was trying to say.

Perhaps if this were a Russian discussion board it might make sense, but even then it's a stretch for anyone to get twisted about not using proper script, especially an American on an American discussion board referring to a foreign language.

Actually, there are creative ways to make it Russian-esque but not use the Cyrillic. I saw this recently, a pretty clever way to allude to Cyrillic but it's actually just Roman letters in reverse. I studied typography and design so the whole "how to make it look Russian but in English" is an intriguing conundrum for designers.

I don't think Bill&Katya was speaking for everyone here, I think he was just speaking for himself and also trying to mock the whole "cultural appropriation" thing that gets cried a lot in the world today. I didn't take his criticism too seriously....it's just a meme after all!

This is a lower forum. Or a sub-sub-sub-basement forum. People are saying, you can't get lower than this forum.

The most offensive thing in this thread was saying Obama's coin was minted in a cow pasture. Either there's a few thin skinned people posting here or a lot of fake anger.

Yes.  I always cringe when I get emails from professional colleagues that are totally lacking in grammar or use words in the wrong context.  Now as I am an engineer, this happens often as many engineers failed English and grammar.

Good thing proper grammar isn't required to operate a train. :content:
