K1 for my fiance

hey folks,

there are probably duplicate threads about this already, but i couldn't find anything about this:

can i still file for k1 if me and my fiance did not do a certificate in laos?

i visited laos for 10 days back in late december. prior to that, i started talking to my fiance as friends. we eventually grew closer, which led to my trip to laos. during my time there, we were engaged traditionally (hmong), but didn't do any papers for a certificate i keep reading about. we have photos to prove we are engaged.

is this certificate mandatory when filing for k1? or are the photos sufficient? all insight from everyone here would be great! it's been depressing without her.

If you are talking about the letter stating "intent to marry" within the first 90 days of entering the US, yes this is a requirement.  I would suggest you read the K-1 Guide here and research more about the K-1.  good luck!
