Towards the end of September, I had the brilliant idea that, the next time we crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I would just "pop in and ask" about the legality of having a B2 stamped in my passport. That way, we could live in Niagara Falls, N.Y. thus establishing my wife's "domicile." I would continue to work at my job in Niagara Falls, Ontario, crossing back and forth every day.

That makes no sense, B is effectively the status that  Canadians are admitted under, so you no doubt seriously confused them and were lucky to be admitted with those comments.

BTW nothing wrong with marrying in the US on a visitor visa.

Hence, my advice to our friend here.

Although OP has a vary of answers on her/his questions already, I'd like to say a little more about one thing. Do not jump into marriage because of LDR. It actually scares me how fast people nowadays jump into getting married, but hey - that's your choice of course. Marriage is a commitment, hopefully a long life time one. It's not easy all the time. It's not all sunshine and roses. You yet have to meet so don't jump in to things to fast. Meet up a few times, see if that spark is there too when you are around each other in real life. See each others flaws before marriage and then decide if you will take that leap of faith. Marriage is never a guarantee of anything.

As for the K-1, do you earn $20,025 annually to support your boyfriend? If not, you will need a co-sponsor for your K1 and AOS. After K-1, you'll need to pay $1225 to adjust his status aka greencard. Look in to that too. Good luck.

yeah that made no sense.  you also dont need a B2 stamped in your passport (usually only given when flying). you are lucky you got allowed in!

To the OP.  you should go visit first.. DR is also a high fraud country, take that in mind.. the fact you are bringing up marriage before even meeting someone is suspect...   Also, he will have a hard time getting a tourist visa (unless he has ties to back home).

My boyfriend and I were talking today and we are trying to decide what would be the easiest, fastest & cheapest way to do this.

We have been talking online for close to a year now and have yet to meet. I will be going to DR next month to finally see him face to face.

My question though is about bringing him here.  Should we just apply for a tourist visa for 6 months stay in the USA?

Or should we apply for the K-1 as we do plan on getting married. We feel comfortable to do it anytime now.

I know you have to get married within that 90 day stay but seeing other posts it looks like it could get denied and could take awhile

Whereas I havent really seen anything on denial of a Tourist Visa.  Just so he could come here for a bit too.

So again, my question is, to get him here would it be easier, faster & cheaper to go with the Tourist Visa or just go with the K-1 and see what happens.

If I were in your shoes, I would wait for the K1 to get approve. If you decide to do the tourist visa it has to be done first and approved before putting a K1 visa. Doing this will lengthen your overall process and will cost more in the end. Also, there is no guarantee that he will get the tourist visa plus DR consulate has been a pain lately.  My wife had a couple of friends trying to get a tourist visa, and both were denied. One of them hire an immigration specialist and with that person he was able to get the tourist visa, plus he had to pay for the service. I mean, the process may differ from your situation, but it depends on your partner circumstances in DR, for example, if he does not have a well establish job, assets, and other things that tie him/her to DR; immigration may pull a red flag before giving the tourist visa as they may believe that he is pursuing the visa for overstaying.
