well, when the whole birtherism thing was going on (when was that, up until what October 2016?) fox was the only channel still going at it, still entertaining it (and birtherism isn't the only conspiracy fox clung to, reinforced with air time) sooo, if four years from now cnn is still going on about what buzzfeed published (that everyone had been sitting on) then i'd say these are 'essentially' the same. until some time has passed this is more of trump being a tyrant, wanting to control all media.

Cute, isn't it?  We have been hearing here on CEHST and from Obama's mouth for years how Fox News was just a mockery.

All presidents want to control the media, so that is an non-starter.  Didn't FDR and his team control the media related to his disability?  I don't know much about the "birther" stuff from Fox, but I don't think that was the only reason Obama criticized them.

With regards to Obama criticizing Fox News:

 

Can anyone find any clips or articles about him specifically singling out a Fox News reporter during a Press Report?

I did a quick google myself and yes I've found moments where Obama spoke negatively about Fox News in an interview, but has he ever disrespected them to their face during a live Press Report in front of the other media outlets?

 

Without that, I wouldn't necessarily call it "essentially the same thing". Yes it may be all "style" (Obama is intelligent, reserved and knows how to behave and Trump is a 14 year old Freshman who cries when people make fun of him), but I think this is one of those times where "style" does matter a little bit.

and really? FDR - gee i wonder why a president would need to control commentary about having a disability in the 30/40s..i hear folks way back then were big on equality for invalids.

You have got to be kidding me. Anyone not seeing the difference between the mess Faux News entertainment channel reports and this incident yelling at the

reporter is blind.
Anyone not seeing how Trump coddles world leaders/media/celebrities (fill in the blank) that supposedly LIKE him versus those who

give voice to their legitimate concerns, where he tweets prima -dona -snowflake- hissy -fits is delusional.

Chicken/Egg scenario except I believe we know how it happened.

 

As far as I remember watching the video the man had his hand raised, Trump sort of gestured so he thought it was his turn and he started talking, to which Trump responded "No not you, you're fake" or something to that degree, and then that started the back and forth.

 

I think the fact that Obama has a history of speaking negatively about Fox, and yet his Press Reports are always cordial and professional is a testament to him as an mature adult and a gentleman. He is allowed to have an opinion, Trump is as well. Trump can say that CNN says negative things about him. At the end of the day though he shouldn't single out the person from that news agency like he did. It's just not Presidential. It's childish.
