Citizenship approval taking too long

Hello all,

wWfe had an interview back in April 2016. to date,

they have not given her an approval, even though she passed all civic questions.

We've called them and even went to the local office. They just kept saying, waiting on a third party respond.

It cant be the background check, because background can't be that long.

So my question is, is it time for a lawyer? and what can they do, other than what we've already done. Call the USCIS, went to the local office with an appointment.(twice)

This is january 2017.

thanks for your respond.

Unfortunately, all you can really do is keep waiting and reaching out to them for an update. You can try reaching out to your local congressman as well.

Most likely they are waiting for a response or verification of a document, background check, etc. Filling in your timeline would help people try to assist as well.

I'm doubtful a lawyer would make the process go any faster. USCIS moves at USCIS's pace and nobody else's.

We're kinda in the same boat

Did biometrics in September but nothing as yet on an interview

Looks like it's all come to a stop at USICS

When I call they just say they're working March 2016 filers (Norfolk)

When we went for biometrics the place looked like a ghost town. More employees than customers

At this point it's usually a 4 month process. MAYBE it'll change under Trump?

Anyone else have insight?

Op- the fact that they mention a third party is odd.  I am guessing it IS a background thing, perhaps an FBI name check if there is someone with a similar name who has had legal trouble.  Do get your Copngress man/ woman involved.

BXman- your case is different as you are waiting for an interview, not a decision.

What was stated on the N-652 you wife received after the interview?

My wife received an N-652 at her interview with the top box checked stating she had passed all the tests, then box A was checked stating her application was recommended for approval.

Thank you all for responding.

Yes, she had her biometric before the interview. We're just in  limbo...waiting. and she's getting mad, blaming me. : (

i wrote a letter to our congressman last night.

I guess at the point all the lawyer will do is call them and ask the same questions as we did, and take our money..
