I am glad they didn't close the Grand Canyon because of snow.  We were there a few days ago and there was a lot of snow on the trees just off the South Rim.  Also, the roads around Flagstaff Arizona (specifically I40, I17 and US89) are horrible and full of potholes.  I thought only Michigan had bad roads.

There was, in the 1970s or early 1980s, a brief movement to build a dome over the town of Monticello, Iowa, purportedly to assist the tofu-farmers.

There are proposals to "dome" part of Manhattan as well.

To be fair I have seen ski resort areas close due to snow. Usually too much, too fast and the facilities aren't able to function.
