After registering  with DHL courier service,  do I email printed receipt to the embassy or just take it on interview  day

What exactly did u do. Email it or take it to the interview

After you register you can keep the confirmation for yourself, but the embassy doesn't need a copy of it.

If your visa is approved they will ask if you have registered for DHL.

This site is asking me to register my visa appointment. Is this the same as registering  for DHL. It is also asking  for ds-260 #. Is this the confirmation # at the bottom of conformation  letter. If not, where do I find this #

Yes its the same, also don't worry if your appointment is before 9 am and you only see that time available on the DHL website.  

After the DS-260 was submitted you should have gotten a confirmation email. The attached PDF file will have it on the bottom.

Another way to find it is logging in to ceac where you filled out the DS-260 application. At the top right click on IV application then at the top right click on Sign at the bottom you will find the Confirmation no:
