I'm also in favor of tv time limits. One prime time tv commercial a week is all they get. We get absolutely barraged with commercials by these clowns, by the time the election rolls around, I hate them all.

Down here, we felt simultaneously lucky and left out -- not one TV or radio commercial for either Hillary or Trump aired, that I heard.  However, it was made up for by the candidates for District Attorney, et al.

I'm all for term limits, but why not just make it a max of 2 4year terms across the board for both Senators and Congressman? I've never really understood the two year terms for Congressmen, seems too short to get anything effective done and a good chunk of the 2nd year is spent running for re-election.

Agreed.

I think Congressmen have shorter terms since they are the most specific/"local" form of federal representation. If your local representative isn't getting what you elected him to do done then you should be able to swap him out more quickly. I don't think "campaigning" was ever intended to be a year long event in which case 4 year terms seem to make a lot more sense.

Honestly though I think we should roll back to a scenario in which we don't even discuss/announce candidates for offices until like 12 weeks before the election. None of this year long junk. President, Senator and Representative. Focus it into a much shorter season. It goes on for far too long right now.

We didn't have very many here.  I was in Las Vegas in late October, during the morning news all commercials were either Hillary or Trump.

All political commercials included not just presidential. Here in Mass our tv stations also broadcast in southern NH and ME, so we not only get our own political commercials, but we get both of those states as well. It's a non-stop onslaught for at least 6 months and sometimes longer. I started recording most of the shows we watch on the dvr and watching them the next day just so we could fast forward through the political commercials.
