Employment letters update?

5 posts in this topic

Hey guys, quick question:

I am looking to file my AOS this week.  I was wondering about the employment letters - I only interviewed in September for my K1 visa and I still have my husband's employment letters dated September 2016.

I was wondering if its worth the trouble to have these updated or if I can use them along with the 6 months worth of paystubs (proving he still has those jobs).  Let me know if thats okay as Im not sure how fussy they are with dated letters this time around.  Thanks!

We had ours updated...had about 8 months inbetween though. Yours is a lot closer. I believe you should be fine with a letter within the 6 months of pay stubs you're showing.

I would suggest to get updated letters. A general rule of thumb is to try and have things dated within 30 days of when submitting. Also, since you used that letter already for the K-1, they want to see an updated one to help prove the sponsor is still currently and actively employed.

The paystubs will show that they are still employed since these list the employer and should be the most recent, however I guess it could be good in the sense that the updated letter could state that no changes in the employment are planned as of that date.

Thanks for the advice guys!  At this point its gonna be a bit of a wait for those new letters so I will go ahead with the old letters and all the updated paystubs.  They cannot logically find fault with a 4mth old letter with a paystub from the same job dated last week!  Then again u never know -_- I'll let you know if I run into RFE because of this but my i-94 expires next week and i.....just want to submit this package. Lol
