They're starting to use 'white nationalists' and 're-branded white nationalism' more. Alt-right is an attempt to normalize what they really are.

The Trump Effect is something different. I suggest you google it. There's nothing positive about it.

People tend to be jealous of Americans. When I travel west to Asia they tend to love Americans, when I traveled East to UK they were jealous hearted.

I am not up on other country leaders but it seems to me that USA is starting to get respect again based on what is perceived to be a strong leader coming into the Whitehouse.  Putin, Duterte seem to be a fan of Trump.  I suspect Britian will be a fan of Trump, Australia will be tight with Trump.  Seems like Canada has a major snowflake running the country up there, and Mexico is just lost and the cartels control the government.

The Germans and the French are next. LePin and Petry are set to create the dawn of a new Europe.  One that can expunge the compost of immigrants and restore the power of the European Christendom.

We all can only go off our own experiences with a small number of individuals in other countries to gauge reactions. I'll say spending 2 weeks in the UK for Christmas, the reaction I got 100% of the time was "What were you thinking? Why did you vote for him?". The biggest thing they didn't understand was that just because I was American doesn't mean I voted for him. I went to several parties and didn't have a single person express anything other than that when the topic came up. Not a single person thought it was good for America, the UK or the world at large. Like I said though, I realize I can only talk about the people I interacted with (about 50 or 60 people, give or take). This was in Wiltshire, in the countryside so it wasn't just a bunch of "liberal Londoners", though I would say it was definitely skewed towards university graduates or higher education level.

As someone who comes from a foreign country(albeit one that can relate more to Americans than most) but have also visited numerous other countries in Europe and Asia mainly, as I said in my previous comment I really couldn't care less about their judgement. They know very little about America and what it is about, about the culture and the history. They know even less about Israel. They consider themselves tolerant yet are quick to jump to conclusions and decide they know better and think they can dictate what's best for other countries. They make untrue assumptions and if you're not a tolerant leftie cute socialist like they are, you are an evil creature. Asking somebody "what were you thinking?" when it's not even your country pretty much sums it up for me. That's what know-it-alls do. I'm not trying to turn into them and generalize, just pointing out my observation after decades of seeing the world.

Ya I agree. I was just stating my observations from over the holiday period. I'm not saying their opinion should matter to us, just stating that if people want a general poll of opinions from a small country town in England...it is generally that this is a bad decision. Whether that is right or wrong is a different question. I was commenting in response to people stating that people internationally are generally "excited" for the Trump presidency. I haven't experienced that yet, in my limited travels since the election. My trips prior to the election I had similar responses (from a wider range of people, I worked at a hospital in central London for a month last spring and it was a common conversation even before he won the primaries).

Sadly no. When my wife told people she was dating an American most of them thought she was out of her mind until they actually met me and realized I wasn't like their stereotype. Most of them assume that American men are loud, obnoxious, shallow and not a lot going on in the head.

My wife is in OG and previously worked for a company in London. I was previously in NYC at a hospital there, and prior to that in San Diego. Originally born in Portland, Oregon. I have no connection to Houston, but moved here in August in preparation for my wife's arrival so that she could get work. Got a job, bought a house, have the cars ready. Now just waiting on her visa (supposed to have been done already but we made a minor error with her birth certificate, and now have to wait another 6-8 weeks for the NVC to look that over). She works upstream and there really aren't any other cities in the US for exploration/new ventures.
