EAD is going to expire, no news from the new EAD

Hi everyone,

I am in the US with a K-1 visa. I applied for my AOS and EAD card on October 2015. I got my EAD card in 2 months (January 2016) . I haven't heard anything from my AOS application besides the notification for bio-metrics.

This October (2016) I applied to renew my EAD because it is about to expire and it is valid for one year (from January 2016 to January 2017). And I haven't heard anything from that either. My status an USCIS webpage says that your case is received. And my EAD will expire in about 10 days.

Is there anyone with similar experience? Do they (USCIS) issue the new EAD way before the first one expires or the issue it about the same time that the first one is expiring.

Any idea is appreciated

Renewals take about 90 days to be processed, the same as the initial filing. It's for this reason that it's recommended to file for renewals 120 days before your current documents will expire.

You would need to take an unpaid leave of absence from your job if the new EAD hasn't arrived before your current EAD expires.
