Visa approved Dec 16,2016... still no update? HELP!!!

My fiance got approved more than a week ago, the lady told my fiance she will receive her visa withing the next 7 days, NVC case stills says "Ready" and ustraveldocs.com says "Passport still with consulate", problem is that I already booked the flights for the 13th of January

Seconding that! Every piece of paper from the embassy has mentioned that you should not buy a plane ticket, sell property, or quit a job until you have the visa in hand.

Rule number 1 = never make arrangements that can't be changed until visa is in hand,

You have to remember it is holiday season. It is greatly impacting timelines. Things will not be back into the full swing of things until the second week of January. Hopefully yours will be available soon.

Got it Doubled. Congrats to you and your fiance. How long did it took you guys to be approved? Hang on there its holidays here. But the operations will be back in normal tomorrow. So I will pray for your fiance to get vusa on hand before tge sched flight.

Yup. Backing everyone else on not purchasing tickets until visa is in hand. I wanted to purchase my partner's ticket but made myself wait until he confirmed he had it then bought it same day.

Hopefully they will get it to you by the early days of January; but probably don't expect much this week with New Years still upcoming.

Your not alone, I did the same thing and booked a flight for my husband before the visa was in had even though it's a huge NO NO. NVC stayed at ready after his visa was approved, and his passport was actually already in DHL in his hometown before we even got a tracking number from the embassy. So that may be one option for you to look into, check and see if it has come. The holidays aren't helping the delay. Good luck

Unfortunately, you're not the first one to make this mistake and certainly not the last. With a little bit of luck, she could be able to have her passport in time but anything can happen from lost packages, to embassy mistake of no visa printed in it, broken seal, etc etc and now the Holiday season which will cause some delay.
