Sounds like a set-up already especially the way it's asked. It'll be a waste of money and even if it is a geniune case, this 20-year old fellow will just use her to get of that country to come to the USA.

Why do you judge so easily that way ? Do you think everybody in Ghana just want to leave the country to come to America? The guy is not forcing her to get him to America so why do you say he will use her to get to this country ? Have you also thought of American getting Ghanaians into this country and damp them ?

Cultural norms are a big thing in sub Saharan consulates. It is very non standard for a man to take an older wife. If the man is the oldest son and the woman is past child bearing age it is a huge red flag and will certainly be mentioned during the interview. Not only should there be several long visits , but the USC should plan on attending the interview. The fact there is such a large difference and they met online increase the chances of fraud so they need to plan for a lot of headache in the process because everyone will see fraud even if none exists.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

That's true @NigeriaorBust I can understand lused2LoveHer asking if his friend stands a chance given the negative feedback of Ghana Embassy. Everyone is different but she may even want to get married in Ghana if that's what she decide. then go for CR-1. That way if the case is denied, it won't expire and she can rebuttal USCIS rather than paying another filing fee.

After meeting she may want to stay there, so many imponderables.

A k1 would be denied definitely

we have (I think) the biggest age diffence on here more than 30 years

but we went thru K1 denied

CR1 spoouse denied

5 trips to his country

spending almost a year there

and our 3rd CR1 was approved

I jumped thru hoops to do this adding him to IRS tax returns, bank account using his ITIN from IRS and adding him with quick claim deed to my house (which is scary when the person is not in the US)

they will find out they have to do multilple visits and more than likely marry

the prrofs i did were normal for AOS not visa

I suggest that the OP read the Ghana threads so they can get an idea what the chances are to get a K-1 approved through the Ghana Embassy. This topic has been discussed many many times.

Why would it be any different than when old men petition for little 20-25 year old girls?

In the Philippines large age difference is culturally acceptable, it's more of a problem in some cultures, so more likely to be scrutinized there

If she wants to be in it for the long haul to get him here, it can take 4-5 years of trying with Ghana embassy.
I am certain a K1 would be denied even if she brings a boat load full of evidence under her circumstances.
A CR1 would likely be returned also and after a re affirmation process of another 18 months they may get approved

with some long term relationship evidence not a mere 6 months of chats.
Read the many threads in the Ghana portal where bona fide couples, married, with kids, who been together for years

still were denied with tons of relationship evidence. So will a 20 and 48 yr old who met online squeeze through ?

Nope, don't think so.

A 20 year old is barely a grown man and once he would make it here the adjustment for both with him being so young

and still immature would be phase 2 of " What the heck was I thinking."

Love isn't enough in this process, maturity, patience and commitment is a vital part of it all.

Does she want to waste years of trying to get him here and then years of adjustment with the possibility it not working out ?
If yes then go for it.

Visit often. Don't engage or marry at the first visit but the 2. or 3. visit. Meet his family.
Marry and file a CR1. That would be my advice for her or run while she is able to.
This process is not a Romeo and Juliet performance, it's more like swimming with the sharks horror movie.

Just some real talk for someone who may be blinded by an online love 'entanglement.'
