Trump aide Jason Miller says he won't work at the White House

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. One of President-elect Donald Trumps top aides said unexpectedly early Saturday evening that he would not be joining the White House staff as previously announced because he wants to spend more time with his family.

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trumps campaign who was named Thursday as the White House communications director, said in a statement that he had decided that the West Wing job would be too demanding and that his growing family was more important.

After spending this past week with my family, the most amount of time I have been able to spend with them since March 2015, it is clear they need to be my top priority right now and this is not the right time to start a new job as demanding as White House Communications Director, Miller said in a statement.

He added: My wife and I are also excited about the arrival of our second daughter in January, and I need to put them in front of my career. I look forward to continuing to support the President-elect from outside after my work on the Transition concludes.

Millers decision was first reported by Politico. The statement was issued by Miller personally and not by the Trump transition team.
