Endorsement stamp on IR-1 visa can't be read

POE was yesterday at Las Vegas airport.

It was very busy and it took over 2 hours in secondary to be processed. The CBP officer who dealt with me in secondary appeared stressed/harassed and was very short with me. He gave me my passport back and I rushed to get my luggage. It was only later I looked at the stamp that endorses my visa as a temporary I-551 and it is so feint it is barely legible. Either his ink pad is dry or he didn't press hard enough.

I showed it to my husband and he agrees that unless you know it says "December 19, 2016" there could be no way anyone would know what date it says. I'm worried that this could cause a problem. We are wondering whether to make an Infpopass appointment to have it re-stamped or do I need to go back to the airport with it?

I start my new job on January 3 and they have told me that they need to check the stamp on my first day to prove I'm legally eligible to work (as I knew they would do).

Infopass won't help with this. Find a CBP deferred inspection place to go to and fix this.

Did they write on it IR1 for class and your A#?

He wrote IR-1 on the page where he stamped. The IR-1 part is very clear because he wrote that with a pen. But you can't see the stamp. If you look very closely in a good light you can see the D of Dec and part of the border edge of the stamp but nothing else. If it wasn't for the IR-1 in pen you'd think the page was blank.

He didn't write the A number.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

Thank you everyone. It still hasn't sunk in that I'm here for good this time.

And I'm still on UK time and awake and on my iPad at 2am while husband sleeps.

I've found the number for CBP deferred inspection so I'll call them when they are open.
