I work as a fragrance specialist (brand ambassador) (vendor) for Loreal brands like Giorgio Armani and Clarins brands like Prada in retailers like bloomingdales.

Is kinda of a dream job, but it has no hours in January and in July.

From each paycheck they deduct about 13% 9% being taxes and the other percentage I don't know but I assume it goes in a little fund for those months of no hours.

I was told by my co-workers to call and say I have a seasonal job and file for unemployment for the months of january and july.

I get scared of doing so thinking it might implicate anything in my removal of conditions, or in the future applying for citizenship, or even from returning from a trip abroad that they might not let me in for taking unemployment. (such a conscious person, I know, I might or might not have anxiety, lol. )

You are allowed to be unemployed; there are some welfare benefits that are only for citizens, but greencard holders can be unemployed, you will be fine.
