Case is still pending, would you recommend contacting senator or Ombudsman?

You could go ahead and apply for citizenship. Sometimes that prompts them to work on the ROC. If it's caught up in security checks then it might be no good. I would definitely contact the senator and ombudsman.

One year, 5 months, and 15 days later.... still no information about the case

Similar timeline...maybe your file has been on vacation to the same place as mine.

Assuming you can (and indeed, assuming that you actually want to), I would suggest that you file your N-400 which should force it.

Sadly, for various reasons, I cannot file my N-400 yet so I remain at the mercy of repeated 'pending security check' letters, which I have shown to be a lie, at least in my case.

From what I am told, a lot of senator enquiries result in exactly the same letters from USCIS, and a letter from the senator stating that they can't intervene.

I contacted my representatives and Ombudsmen during my I-130 petition, which took nearly a year to approve, far over the 6 month approximated waiting time.

Ombudsmen did not help anything at all. My congressman did not help anything at all. I finally contacted my senator who at least made inquiries on my behalf. About a month after that I was approved, but that could have very well been coincidental.
