Do they still allow passengers to check-in balikbayan boxes as luggage? My fiance is visiting me this Christmas and is thinking of taking a balikbayan box as one of his check-ins for more space, but this article got me nervous: https://adobochronicles.com/2015/03/10/balikbayan-boxes-will-no-longer-be-allowed-on-international-passenger-flights-to-the-philippines/

Not sure if it only applies to Honolulu, or if it's even a legit article at all because it's the only one saying balikbayan boxes aren't allowed on flights anymore from all the links Google returned. My fiance will be coming from San Francisco.

Thanks!

Nvm guys, just asked my aunt who travelled to the Philippines from the USA recently and she said it's perfectly fine and that adobochronicles is a hoax site! I feel so stupid being victimized by the Internet! D: Lol. Thanks for all your replies though. Will make sure the box he gets fits the requirements/limitations of a checked-in luggage.

That is a satire website.. nothing is real there. You can also find an article about no visa needed to travel to the USA on that site...

As for BB as checked luggage, I saw a few traveling from the USA to the Philippines using BB boxes this past Friday. As long as they meet the dimension and weight limitation they are fine.

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!
