Can you receive your passport back on the same day as your interview?

Hi! Hope someone can help with this. My visa case is complete for my spouse visa and I will be having my interview in London in likely end of January or February.

HOWEVER, I live in northern ireland which means flying for London for said interview.. and evidently many airlines don't accept a drivers licence as a form of ID any more, so I will need my passport to get back home.

So my question is, in circumstances like this, is there a way for the embassy to give you your passport on the day of the interview, or even the next day? Instead of mailing it to you. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well they could give it back to you of course! BUT, you won't get the visa then as they need to physically have the passport to be able to affix the visa inside.

Best bet is find an airline that allows you to use your drivers license, or maybe you have a friend in London can stay with until you could get the passport back??

check with individual airlines on their requirements. Or do you qualify for a European ID card? That's dropping another wad of cash though for a document that won't help you very much.

You can keep your passport and walk out of the embassy with it but there will be no visa inside it. Someone did this recently as they had to travel urgently on business the next week and needed their passport. So you can keep it and then send it back by DX at some later stage.

But which airline is not accepting your driving license on a U.K. domestic? EasyJet do. Flybe do.
