Can I open a personal account or joint account with a passport only?

I tried opening a joint account with my husband at Wells Fargo and I was told I needed 2 forms of ID and since my visa had expired I can't use it as a second form. Is there and bank that will allow me open a personal account or joint account with just a passport?

Try smaller, regional banks, they tend to be more accomodating.

we opened one with my passport, his licence andssn, and my provincial health card as a secondary. do you have anything else with your name?

My wife was able to open one with a Passport and a piece of mail with her name on it at Chase.

As above stated a smaller local bank would be best, or try a credit union..

I opened with Bank of America while I was still living in Sweden. Showed my passport and Swedish credit card as second form of ID plus had to make a deposit into the account.

Can you get a state I'd with your passport? Then you have second form of ID

I've been able to open bank accounts at 3 banks just by showing my passport. Bank of America, Chase and Capital One. Boa is definitely the easiest. I would recommend setting up an appointment and then explain your situation. I was able to open the last two that way, even though ssn was supposedly required + second id. Sometimes going to a different branch with friendlier employees will do the trick. ( I went to 3 Chase branches)

I was able to open an account with Bank of America with my passport and a debit master card from my Foreign bank that had my name
