And what if they uncover a hack? It's not going to change the result. All it will do is divide the nation further.

I would hope that the country would see election tampering by a foreign country as a non-partisan issue. Yes it may not change the outcome, but if they have more information than the public has about the possibility that it happened, we as a nation should definitely look into for the benefit of everyone.

I would also imagine that investigating the issue is PART of "building better security so it can't be hacked". It is easy to say that, harder to implement. If it was hacked, it is helpful to know how in order to build it better.
