After 15 months of waiting after my husband's denial at the embassy in Accra, Ghana, I just received this update on the USCIS website. Does anyone know exactly who I should contact at the Department of State? Is the DOS the National Visa Center? I don't know exactly who to contact. I still havent' received any hard copy in the mail. This was just updated yesterday.

Any advice, anyone who has gone through this, I will appreciate it. Thank you.

On December 7, 2016, the Department of State returned your case, Receipt Number LIN14911xxxxx, to us for further review and we mailed you a notice affirming our original approval. Please contact the Department of State directly for any further information on your case.

You will do nothing at all. That message means they have reaffirmed your petition and is on it way to NVC and then to Accra Embassy. I assure you that it will take a month or 6 weeks for the nvc to actually have it. And once they got it they will just repackage it and send it to the embassy. At this point the nvc don't do any processing on it again because it was already processed previously before your denial at the embassy. The nvc will notify you wen they receive it and will also notify you wen they forward it to Accra. This time you don't get interview date from nvc but rather from Accra. Our case is already in Accra awaiting a call letter for us to pick our interview date.

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

They didn't ask for anything they just reaffirm it?

Thank you all for your posts, they help. I will keep the phone number and call in.

No, no additional evidence was needed. We had gone above and beyond in the first place and the woman interviewing my husband could not even tell him why he was denied. On top of that, the checklist she gave him was completely blank.

Thank you for the kind words. We waited 15 months from the time he was denied.

When the time goes over 12 months, I would recommend calling in. I did two things: I contacted the Ombudsman and got them involved. You can search USCIS ombudsman for the info. You'll have to submit paperwork, like the 221 G, etc., and evidence that you've contacted a congressperson, etc.

Also, I booked an Infopass appointment.

I did all this exactly one day after the 12 months of waiting. Stay on top of everything, I believe it will help. The waiting is not easy, so I wish you the best.
