Hi,

I was just told by NVC that they received and scanned my petition, but they don't have a case number yet.

Anyone know how long it takes before they do?

We've already been waiting a month from NOA2, so will it be much longer before a case number is assigned?

Also, how long after the case number is issued does it usually take to get to the embassy? In our case it's in Kiev, Ukraine.

Thanks!

I recently talked with one of the users on here who received her case number- she said after hearing her case was received, they told her it could be a few weeks before she was assigned a number. She called the next day and they had it  Might be a lucky instance though. Jim is on top of his K-1 visa stuff so 2 days is probably the norm.

As for the embassy receiving after case #, really depends on how quick NVC sends the petition out. You can call to see if it's been dispatched. They use DHL which is pretty quick- I would guess 3-6 days are the average for the embassy to receive. It could take longer during the holiday season but I've gotten most packages within 4 days through DHL services, so based on this I think transit time should be quite fast!

Hope that helps a bit :D
