i take it you give no thought to the inkling that trump was perturbed by muilenberg's criticism?

given.."Most recently, observers noticed that Trump’s tweet calling for the banning of flag burning came within minutes after Fox & Friends—a show on which he frequently appears and watches—aired a segment about college students burning the flag in protest of a Trump presidency."?

and we are talking about an article titled -

Trump's Air Force one math doesn't add up

in which the MDL author freely admits he has no clue how much its going to cost. Wrap your head around that

I did not see flag burning anywhere in the article

sigh. i posted an additional article. comparison was made between trump's tweet shading boeing directly after being critized and trump's imprison flag burner tweet and the fox and friends piece on protests/flag burning over trump. impossible to have a conversation around here anymore. and it wasn't exactly easy prior to trump getting elected.

My problem with what Trump said isn't that the numbers don't add up, but I think he may be blaming the wrong people.

Boeing produces the planes. Boeing will be responsible for putting in the "super secret" advancements to make it fit to carry a President. But who really decides the ultimate cost? I feel like it is more an issue with the Pentagon. Maybe there is some tech that they should cut out? The 3-4 billion dollar range, to my knowledge, includes the "R&D" for the tech to put in the plane. It's not like they are going to pay Boeing 3-4 billion dollars just for two planes. So I feel like his tweet should have more been directed at the Pentagon.

The Pentagon didn't just criticize Tweetsolini, thus the misdirection in Komrade Tweetsolini's tweet.

karl rove is also apparently a big fat snow flake..

“He said something that was not accurate that had a negative impact on that stock, namely that there was a $4 billion contract,” Rove told Fox News’s Bill Hemmer on “America’s Newsroom” Wednesday.

"There is no contract for $4 billion, there’s a contract for $170 million. There is no $4 billion contract," he continued. "The impulse — that we want to save the taxpayers money — that’s admirable. But this was fire, ready, aim in my opinion.”
Rove said Trump's actions also hurt Boeing stockholders.
“What he did yesterday was he de-stabled the stock of a major American company,” he said. "That stock is held by millions of Americans."
“Now, it’s not just a bunch of executives in Chicago or a bunch of management types sitting in Charlotte, N.C., or Seattle, Wash., where they have their management facilities,” Rove added of Boeing.
“[it’s held by] pension funds, by university endowments, by ordinary people who’ve invested in Boeing. There’s one elemental thing a president ought to keep in mind, which is the power of his words, and therefore, the accuracy of his words.”

Airbus doesn't make planes that are more fun to fly, unless you enjoy the thrill of wondering if this will be the flight their pilotless systems finally cause you to crash. And outsourcing these particular planes is an even worse idea in terms of keeping the high tech defense systems somewhat of a secret.

Otherwise you are likely spot on as to the extra expenses involved in building Airforce 1's. These are not your moms commercial airliners.

Pilotless systems? Never heard of that, must be something new. They always require a pilot, 2 in fact, on all their airliners. If you are talking about "fly by wire", that I something different and no more dangerous than the manual yoke control on a Boeing. And they are more fun to fly. (In real life, not on Microsoft Flight Sim. )

I don't think that the manufacturer would actually install those secret defense systems and comms. All that is done by a 3rd party company that specializes in each of them. Like when you buy a Cessna, for example. You want a GPS, you go to a shop that installs them. You want better radios, you go to a shop that specializes in that.

Friend of mine popped over to pick up a new AirBus.

Nothing like that new plane smell.

I would expect Boeing to be the main contractor but specialist subbies to do the cute stuff.

Does seem to be a giant phallic symbol, what happens if we end up with a female President?

Airbus emphasises electronic flight controls over manual, and when their systems fail they fail spectacularly. Yes Boeing has had issues too and both are producing safe planes, but I was referring to Airbus removing quite a few more flight system controlls from the hands of the pilot entirely. Not really a huge fan of Airbus' thinking in that regard.
