I can only speak about my experience, which was different because the countries involved were not the same.

I am French and my interview at the US embassy in Paris. I lived for one year in Indonesia so in theory I would have to submit a police certificate for Indonesia. However when I checked travel.state.gov regarding police certificates I read this:

Unavailable for applicants inside and outside Indonesia. Indonesian police certificates require initial processing at a local or village level, which is nonstandard in nature, can be subject to capricious decisions by officials and may require nonofficial payments to proceed further.

So I did not bring it with me to the Interview. The day of the interview, the first person I talked to, who took all the documents from me asked me for a police certificate for Indonesia (she Indonesia listed as a country I lived in the past 5 years). I explained that I had read that it was not required. She seemed unconvinced but didn't argue much.

Then I talked to the interviewer and she didn't even mention it. I was approved on the spot.

So in my case it was not an issue. I believe it will be fine for you too. travel.state.gov does have the right information and states the rules Interviewing Officers have to follow. You might want to bring a print out of the page stating that you do not need it in case they don't know.

Good luck!

Hey you might find this older thread useful to look over! Similar, if not the same, situation.

My understanding is that a CO cannot expect a police certificate from the UAE, since UAE will not issue one unless said individual is currently living in the country. Since you are not, they cannot expect you to obtain one, and you should not worry :)

In the above thread some users suggested emailing the embassy/a few other sources and printing the responses (which will tell you exactly what you found on the travel.gov website) so you have them at the interview incase the CO gives you a hard time. Definitely check the thread out. I wish you luck but really think you will be okay :)

**Post moved from K1 to Phillippines.

Good morning. I moved your message to the regional forums because there are a lot of people from Phillippines on your same situation. They can also provide best advice about the interview.

No worries. You are not currently residing in UAE so no need for the police clearance from that country. However, do get your police clearance here in the Ph :) Just be calm and explain yourself well. You-d be surprised that most CO's are understanding most especially on windows 60 and above at section C :)

If you do decide not to go the route of getting a PC from UAE then it's best and highly recommended that you visit this website and print off the instructions of who is eligible. With that in hand at your interview and if asked or have some push back from the CO then present your copy and inform the CO that it states clearly that it is not needed and therefor you do not have one with you.

Here is the link. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/AE.html#policerecords-6

Here is what it states:

Police Records

Available, only if applicant is physically present in the UAE.

Police certificates may be obtained by any person, regardless of nationality, by personally appearing at the Central Police Headquarters located in the emirate of residence or former residence. When appearing to request a police certificate, the applicant should provide recent photographs, a letter from the requesting authority, the date of residence in the emirate, and their passport.

Not available by mail. Post recommends that consular officers waive the general requirement to obtain police certificates unless the applicant lives in the UAE.

Prison Records

Unavailable.

UAE is a waiver country for the police certificate (as you can not get the certificate except in person), embassy will not ask for it.
