Hello all,

I'm new to all of this and looking for some advice on how to get started.

I am a (female) US citizen. And I met an Egyptian man online through a mutual friend.

Some romantic feelings have developed and I can see the potential for a real relationship, and would like to spend some time in person to see what happens.

Now trying to figure out how we can meet for the first time.

I am scared to travel to egypt by myself; given their political situation, and the fact that I'm a young woman traveling half way across the world by myself, I don't feel safe doing that.

I'd like him to come visit and spend some time in USA, but it seems like getting a travel visa to USA is nearlying impossible.

Any tips/ideas/advice?

Meet in the third country. Have him apply for a turist visa. Or you travel. Only options.

I would suggest trying to meet in Dubai, it will be much easier for him to get a tourist visa to visit the UAE, and it is totally safe for a female traveling alone

That said, I traveled to Pakistan alone and had a fantastic time

There are lots of tourist trips you could take to Egypt and meet this man while you are there as well

Ask mutual friend, presumably Egyptian, to accompany you to Egypt?

Westerners and Israelis find Sharm el Sheikh on the Red Sea to be relatively safer.

There aren't many countries to pick from unfortunately. Dubai is a great idea, it can be a bit expensive so be prepared. I did a similar thing and traveled to Cairo to meet my husband the first time. I booked an Airbnb for my stay in a fairly westernized part of Cairo. I have been numerous times since and have felt safe most of the time. I believe it is important for you to see what it is really like versus what the media says. Stick to tourist areas, keep a scarf with you in case the situation warrants you cover, do some research on the customs and traditions of the area you visit, and trust your instincts. Best of luck!

Sounds like many of the stories from this forum, as well as mine. I actually traveled to Egypt by myself, a bit risky, if you decided to go make sure you have a plan for everything. Hotel, transpiration, etc .. Egypt is beautiful but a foreigner that doesnt know arabic should never walk the streets alone in Egypt. If you need anyone to talk to or have questions message me :)

Overall interview went well, (with the help of this forum) questions asked to me When did I arrive Egypt? How many times have I visited? Do I live in Egypt? Questions asked to my husband Where did we meet? How did we connect?(this is what she asked, i guess she meant how did we stay in touch) Did we have a wedding?

Visa ready August 31, 2016.
