Traveling after green card approved

Hello everyone,

I have finally got approved my visa but I have few questions hope someone will be able to help.

On my application I said I intended to live in Georgia and I was going to travel with my 3 kids (all American citizens)

Is it possible for me to travel to New York instead with my 9months baby to stay there only visiting for 2 weeks and travel back abroad to arrange all and then return to the states and relocate the family??

I have family in New York that is my intention for the trip as well as to be registered in the system.

I would suggest to travel outside of US before entering. After you have relocated to New York, I believe you will have to change the address with the USCIS.

I believe that's the procedure.

Marriage (if applicable): 2012-12-08

I-130 Sent : 2016-05-02

I-130 NOA1 : 2016-05-11

Approved : 2016-08-24

NVC

NVC Received : 2016-10-03

Received DS-261 / AOS Bill : 2016-10-15

Submit DS-261 : 2016-10-15

Receive IV Bill : 2016-10-18

March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Of course you can go immediately to New York and leave right away. You can come and go. No issue. Just don't be gone longer than 6 months. The I-551 stamp (your green card temp endorsement) where your Visa is will be your temporary green card stamp.

Just to remind you though your address recorded online (DS-260) is where they will be sending your green card.

Are you paying your green card fee before you arrive or after you arrive? Well either way make sure that address is valid. You can also update your address at the POE. And make sure you also change it online on uscis.gov site where you registered your cases.
