Fastest way to get Emergency Visa to go see critically ill senior mother in ICU in USA (merged)

I am 38 married with 5 kids and spouse living in Pakistan. My mother went to USA to visit my older sister who is a U.S. Citizen and resides there, however my mother got critically ill and is now on life support in ICU and the doctors suggests/advise for family members to be with her.

What kind of visa should I apply to visit my sick mother? My sister send al the hospital verification along with doctors letters and pictures of her On ventilator machine, will these documents help?

I have never visited to any foreign country so this will be my first interview. Should I interview with my husband and kids together to visit my mother and kids grandmother or should I apply alone and take my youngest kid with me only? My youngest is a breast fed some has to come along.

Just curious, someone told me that the safest way to apply and get a visitor visa is by hiring an attorney, did t hear that before so want to make sure is that is even remotely true??

Never heard of this before. You also have to do the application online and nobody can accompany you to the interview, so I'm not really sure what a lawyer can do apart from just giving advice. If it does help, that would be nice to know.

nope an attorney can't do anything to further your chances of getting the visa, the burden of proof and merit is on the person who files to show strong ties to his or her country

No, the visitor's visa is super simply to apply and gather the documentation. Really for any visa you can do it yourself as long as you do the research and pay attention to detail.

If you have some money to give away .. go ahead .. a lawyer can't do anything except helping you fill your petitions which you can do yourself and give you advices ... visa journey was my lawyer from beginning to the end... ask any question . Someone here might have the right answer for you ,,,,, most of the answers were positive...

I am in a delimma. I have 5 younger kids ages 12 years to 1 year, I want to go visit my sick mother who lives in USA with my sister. I have never been to a foreign country or applied for visa before so this will be my first time and I need some advise please.

My husband cannot come along at the moment because of his job so I am planning on taking 2 of my younger kids and going to apply. My question is it better if the whole family applies together or if I just apply with the little kids? im just trying to weigh our options as to which way sounds better?

Also one more question about funding/sponsoring trip. I will be living at my sisters house for 3 weeks for food and guest housing if from her however my husband will be paying for airline ticket, in this case who should I say is sponsoring my trip??

It seems to me that if your husband is living there and your kids are in school there that those are pretty solid ties for returning back to Pakistan, so I think you have a chance of getting it even without your husband.

Of course your husband could apply with you and get the visa and simply not go if he needs to stay for work. It's not like he would be required to the US if he had a visa. So that's an option as well. He'd still have to pay the $160 fee but if it increases the chances of getting you and your kids a visa it might be worth it.

I don't really know if one or another would be better, but if you husband applied and said he was paying for you and the kids, it's much stronger than you saying your sister (who's living in the US) would pay.

So I've been a housewife ever since I had kids, I used to be a school teacher before. Anyhow so I have 5 kids and I am busy taking care of them and home so obviously no career ties to Pakistan?

Our house and commercial business along with car is al under my husbands name, he supports me and my kids. The only strong ties I have with Pakistan is my kids and my husband if you look at it - will taking my kids birth certificate along with my marriage certificate be enough to prove strong ties??

Since all the property, accounts and assets have my spouse name on it should be be present with me at the interview and physically say that he will be paying for the trip or it will be known to the CO that obviously I have 5 kids with the spouse and he is sole provider so he will pay for my trip??

Just trying to gather all ideas before hastily applying and getting denied because I am a simple housewife :/

I'm pretty sure the husband cannot go to the interview with you unless he is also an applicant. Sorry, hadn't thought about the problem of intent. I wasn't trying to imply that your husband lie, I just thought it might be good for him to also have a visa in case he did change his mind and want to join you as a back up plan. That was what I meant by he isn't required to visit the US, as people have plans that change all the time.

I think if you get a B2 approved it won't be a problem for your kids to also get them. They are dependent on you after all. It says here on the Pakistan US visa site:

Applicants under 14 years of age or over 79 years of age from the date of submission, and who were not previously refused a visa are not required to appear for a nonimmigrant visa interview at any Embassy/Consulate in Pakistan. Such applicants may submit their visa applications through the Interview Waiver Program. All other rules, requirements and fees for those under 14 years of age and over 79 years of age remain in effect.

Eligibility Criteria for Child below 14 years of age:

• I am applying before my 14th birthday.
• Either one of my parents have a valid visa of same visa class which I am applying now.

You mean for the visa purposes I need joint or you were mentioning otherwise?

I guess everything being under the husbands name in Pakistan is pretty common, a cultural thing especially when the wife isn't working I guess, I don't know this was never an issue I guess
