Hi guys, i'm currently studying abroad and unable to obtain a police certificate in time to complete my NVC supporting document list.

I have my police certificate from all the other countries i've lived in but not my country of nationality (canada)

will they allow me to present this during the interview if i can't send it in right now? has anyone been through anything similar?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You should mail NVC a written letter stating why you are not able to submit your PC (this is what an NVC agent advised me to do when it is unobtainable); but will submit one at the time of the consular interview. They will either approve it and close your case (depending on your reason) or issue you a checklist for it. My lawyer wrote on our cover letter that we were unable to obtain one, but will submit one at the time of the consular interview. We were still check listed for a PC. We responded with a letter stating that it is unobtainable from the US and to please close our case. We are still waiting for a response/case closed to that letter. Good Luck!

Hi! This is my first post, and I hope links are okay.

My husband is in a similar situation. He's studying in France and needs to obtain Police Certificate from Canada. Check out this website, which offers information for obtaining the Certificate while outside Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/security/police-cert/north-america/canada.asp If I'm reading the info correctly, I think a third-party vendor will be able to handle the process. You'll need to get fingerprints taken at a local police station, and then the vendor will digitize them. Read the instructions very carefully though, as they seem very strict!

I did reach out to one of the listed approved vendors, and this was the information they provided: Basically what we would require is a set of your ink fingerprints taken onto the C216 fingerprint form (attached in this email), a completed Third Party Waiver (in the package) and copies of 2 pieces of valid ID (one with photo). I can then take the ink fingerprints and convert them to digital files and submit them to the RCMP, who will process the transaction within 5-10 business days provided there is no criminal record. Once the transaction is complete and we receive the results, I can then courier the results to you. Please note that we are also able to accept fingerprint forms from most other countries, however please check with us first to make sure we are able to process the forms.

Also, if anyone has completed this process before and can share your experience/advice, I would greatly appreciate it!! This is all so stressful, and I don't want to do anything wrong.
