Hey all,

I just had my visa interview - was approved - and will be filing the AOS and I-864 shortly.

I realized just after leaving the embassy that they kept the original evidence I'd submitted with the I-134 at that stage to prove my dude's income: his original paystubs from the last 6 months from 2 different jobs, bank letters showing savings ($), and a W2. I'd had the presence of mind to make copies of all this information before I went for the interview thankfully!

Question for those who've submitted their own I-864:
Are they adamant about submitting originals, or will the photocopies be acceptable?

Am I taking a shot in the dark by hoping they'll have access to our original file/original documents in addition to whatever's submitted with the AOS? My first thought would be to submit the photocopies and include a signed letter stating that originals of these documents were already submitted to the DOS with the i-134.

Any feedback appreciated, thanks!

Photocopies are fine for the initial filing. In case if an interview, you'll want to get new, up-to-date originals.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Ahh yup that makes sense, since it's likely quite a bit of time will pass between initial filing and interview date anyway.

Thanks for your input!
