After having all my package ready, found out I could do Email

Hey guys, I've been studying all along to send in a package through post mail, but thanks to one of our friends on here I realized I'm eligible for electronic processing (my number starts with RDJ and its a CR-1)... So my question is what are the main differences for someone who will take the e-mail route? hit me up with some good tips/links so I can get started! I feel like a dummie for not noticing that sooner...

I did it for Rio it just made it quicker and painless. You recieve an email upon them receiving. No worrying whether USPS lost package. And if RFE you send it fast. Overall fast efficient and safe.

No. Sending it is enrolling. Once you send email you must continue with EP.

For me in Australia, the biggest benefit was the greatly reduced time for documents to be lodged at NVC . Immediate lodging rather than possibly weeks in snail mail.. Wouldnt consider any other way fo filing. Also, any RFE comes via email and you can respond to it immediately.

Guys, so... Do I have to send in both the barcoded sheet that I received through email along with the one you print out from the website? Is a cover letter needed? Also I read someone mentioning that there are guidelines as to size of files and document titles and how to title the email itself... I havent been able to find a good link describing all the rules... can anyone help? thanks!

You can use cover page either AOS or IV I scanned all pages individually. For example I864 each page got a file then you will name each file

Example:

RDJ000000 Smith John I864 PAGE 1 OF 8.....

RDJ000000 Smith John I864 PAGE 2 OF 8....

all scans like that attach them to one email and send. Just be sure to identify each document in the file name and always use name and case number. Each attachment can't be more than 5mb

I was able to scan in my I-864 in one document with about 2MB.

What if a document has an accompanying translation, should that de two files or one?

I did it recently. Each file you attach cannot be more than 5mb. However, the total size of attachments on your email does not matter. If you have a document, say birth certificate, the birth certificate translation should be another file.

If your birth certificate has more than one page, you still need to put it on the same file, don't do birthcertificate_page1 and birthcertificate_page2.

Keep in mind that if the docs are in portuguese there is NO need to translate.

Most of our documents are in portuguese and I've translated them.. how is that not necessary?

There is no need to translate any document that is in Portuguese!! You can trust me on that one, I was surprised too! I actually called NVC to ask about it. But it's written in here: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html

shameful but so true! hahaha I read up a lot on the NVC stage before I sent out the I-130 back in January and assumed I knew what to do except for some details here and there (and apparently have forgotten all of it)... but I could never imagine NVC not requiring translations, even reading what you sent me it seems like it can't be true... lol

One thing that I want to point it out is that if your joint sponsor is married and file taxes together with his/her spouse, the spouse must fill I864a.
