Hi. My question will be quite unique and not sure if anyone has been in the same situation with me. Here is a detail:

I've been a green card holder since 4/25/2006 and been married the the same person. I decided to file form N-400 naturalization application based on I've been an LPR for at least 5 years on 9/19/2016 to Dallas, TX office. It's shown that it's arrived there at 4am on 9/22/2016. However, right after I filed, my husband finally switched to a new company. He received a Letter of International Assignment to relocate to Stuttgart, Germany- leaving on 10/11. He's a government contractor. The children and I are considered as his authorized independent. The assignment will be until 2019. He signed the offer back in the beginning of September but we didn't think he would get a job. That's why I decided to file for my citizenship.

Questions : Will USCIS expedite my application that I already filed? I haven't received the Receipt of Notice. We've called USCIS and the persons said to call back with the receipt number and they will find out what they can do. Should my husband or I write a request letter of expediting request?

Thank you in advance!

My situation was kind of similar to yours, except my husband is active military and we already had the orders to another overseas location when we filed. We called to request an expedite after I received my NOA. I sent them a copy of his orders, explained our situation, and got approved. However, October 11 is only a couple of weeks away, and even an expedite (from what I've seen) takes at least a little over a month.

If contacting USCIS directly yields no results, get in touch with your U.S. Congressman's office. Those people might be able to intercede fruitfully on your behalf. Keep us posted on your progress.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Kireinamida,

Thank you. I called USCIS and they didn't help me much. They didn't bother to speak with me after knowing that my husband is not in military, but a civilian contractor. So I set up the appointment with INFOPASS to see the officer to discuss the matter. Good luck with your oversea move. :) Where will you move to? We will be in Stuttgart, Germany.

TBoneTX,

Thank you so much! I'll keep you posted! My husband's aunts said the same thing to me "Get the Congressman involved!". I set up an appointment with INFOPASS because the phone reps didn't help me much at all. If there's no answer being given at the appointment, I'll definitely reach out to the Congressman.

I'm sorry they weren't helpful. I hope the appointment leads to positive news. Let us know how it goes.

We'll be moving to South Korea soon, but we've been here in Germany for a few years. Stuttgart is not very far from where we are stationed!

Kireinamida

I may not go. I found a lawyer and he advised me to call National Benefit Center. If it's not helpful, he advises to get Congressman involved with my case. I'll let you know how it goes. He said I can prove that it'll be in that INA as well as financial burden since I'm a homemaker and financially supported by my husband.
