Hi,

I just checked the USCIS page and it says I have been sent an RFE for my AOS form.
I was wondering will this affect the processing of my EAD and AP?

Also, I was wondering if it is going to be a problem travelling with an AP that has my married name on it, when my passport has my maiden name. I know airlines require the name on the plane ticket to be the name in your passport, but then will this affect me flying using my AP card if it is not in the same name?

Lastly, I was hoping to return back to the UK in January for my Mother's wedding. I sent off my AOS, EAD and AP forms and the estimated date for their approval is mid-october. Is it realistic that I will be travelling home in January, especially now regarding the RFE on my AOS. I was wondering whether or not it would be worth it to hire an immigration lawyer. Has anyone had experience with them before? I'm very curious.

Thanks!

I have not received the RFE letter, I just checked on the USCIS case status site and it says that I have been mailed one.

AP is used to re-enter the US. You will have the name on your ticket that matches your passport. You will show your passport and AP to re-enter the US. Have a copy of your marriage certificate on hand too, just in case they want to see the name change document.

Getting a lawyer is most likely not necessary to respond to an RFE.

Thanks, I was worried about travelling with 2 different names.

I wasn't going to get a lawyer just because of the RFE, it was more in general - if the money is worth it to move my AP case along quicker.

What is the RFE for?

I have just received the RFE. It is asking for more information regarding my sponsor and joint sponsor's tax for the year and income. It is an RFE regarding my I864 form (AoS), and so I was wondering if this will affect the processing of my EAD and AP.

I used this link and saw that the RFE does affect my EAD processing time, I cannot find a similar page to see if it affects my I-131 Travel document though.
