Tourist Visa for Mother in Law

Hello,

I am looking for information on how to help my mother in law get a Tourist visa. My hubby came on a K1 Visa last year. We have done the process for AOS, all went great. Now we would like to know the steps how we can have my mother in law apply for a visa to come Visit. We are looking to hold a religious weding ceremony and would like her to be there for it. Can we send an invitation letter based on that? Can anyone point me to the right direction to look for guidelines.

Your mother-in-law has to fill up the DS-160 form online, pay the visa fee USD $160 and schedule an appointment with the US consulate

The presumption in the law is that every visitor visa applicant is an intending immigrant. Therefore, applicants for visitor visas must overcome this presumption by demonstrating that:

• The purpose of their trip is to enter the U.S. for business, pleasure, or medical treatment;
• That they plan to remain for a specific, limited period;
• Evidence of funds to cover expenses in the United States;
• Evidence of compelling social and economic ties abroad; and
• That they have a residence outside the U.S. as well as other binding ties that will insure their return abroad at the end of the visit.

Your mother-in-law will have to prove to the satisfaction of the US consular official at the interviewing US embassy/consulate, that she has significant ties to Haiti such that she would return to Haiti after her US visit is completed. Such ties could include, property, house ownership, current stable employment, etc. Each visitor visa applicant is presumed to have immigration intent, and must prove that they are not trying to immigrate to the US. A letter from a doctor, any documents from you, or any other invitation-type letter would likely have no positive effect on the visitor visa approval.
