Hello, I have a slight issue here and I was wondering if you could help.

I am a green card holder and would like to petition for my spouse.

I live in the U.S now but in the past 4 years I lived and worked abroad and only came for a visit in the U.S every 6 months when I was spending most of my time in the other country.

Now I live in the U.S for a year without leaving and I am a student.

I wanted to know if anyone here has ever petitioned for his spouse in this situation, what did you do? And does anyone know if it's going to be a problem for me?

Can the USCIS take my green card away for petitioning even?

Thank you

In looking at your spouses petition they can look at your travel as part of bonefide relationship and yes they could find that you have effectively abandonded your green card and flag you for extended interview at next entry

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
