Manila Ninoy Airport tax

EDIT:

I just found out that you have to pay this every time unless the ticket was bough in the Philippines, I guess I got confused, which is nothing new..

I read that the Ninoy airport taxes where included in the tickets now, something that was started just a few years ago. I know that the 2 times I traveled there I did not have to pay anything and when my fiancee was still a OFW she did not have to pay any last year.

However..

My Finacee flight is leaving soon (weather permitting) and she sent me a message saying that she had to pay 1620php in fees.

I had told her that I thought that she would not have to pay them, but might end up having to pay fees anyway, so she was prepared.

I had booked the ticket through Orbitz (cheapest flight this trip) I paid $60.00 in taxes and fees, but was no breakdown so I called Orbitz to see if the airport fees where included. They have no breakdown (or do not know how to find it) of the taxes, but the lady said there where no more fees that everything was included in the ticket.

So, unless she was just lucky enough to be cheated out of the 1620, be aware that there is another tax/fee that will have to be paid at the airport, unless it was due to me using Orbitz (although my 1st flight was through them)

Oh, I also sent her a copy of my credit card, driver license and passport as per directed by on here and the airlines, since I bought the ticket for her, but she was never asked for copies.

I have traveled to Manila 3 times myself, the first in 2011, and when I left to fly home I had to pay the "Airport tax"; but the next two times I did not.

My partner, the beneficiary and Filipino, was saying that foreigners no longer pay for the tax but locals still do. It was a little odd but that is what the deal is apparently.

When my wife left manila on her K1 visa (Nov 2015) she did not have to pay the tax. We traveled to Manila this year (May 2016). When we left Manila, I did not have to pay any taxes. She did have to pay the Airport tax before they would give her a boarding pass.

Terminal fees are included in the airfare so the P750 is covered. Always check your ticket to be sure.

You will have to pay the travel tax, which is P1650, the counter is at the front of the terminal, fairly easy to find, past the ANA counters

Travel Fees:

THE FOLLOWING ARE SUBJECT TO THE PHILIPPINE TRAVEL TAX:

1. Citizens of the Philippines

2. Taxable Foreign Passport Holders

3. Non-immigrant foreign passport holders who have stayed in the Philippines for more than one (1) year

Thats right there is a travel tax if you have not bought your tickets from the Philippines. Depends on which airline too.

I am a frequent traveler in the past due to the nature of my work from philippines to u.s. When i buy tickets from third party sites/use my travel rewards/use my mileage, it doesnt include the travel tax.

You can confirm the breakdown of payments and verify if the travel tax of P1620 has been included by calling the customer support of the carrier airline. They should have a copy of the reservation made by the third party site eg orbitz.

Previous experience:

I redeemed a flight to Atlanta from Cebu via Marriott Rewards and wasnt too sure about the breakdown of fees. I wasnt satisfied with it and i called korean air to generate me a new itinerary based on how my booking was made. They sent one to my email and verified that the travel tax wasnt included yet in the ticket.

There is a difference between terminal fees(P550? and now included in ticket costs (usually)) and travel exit tax (P1650 adult P825 child(?) which most but not all Fil pp holders need to pay which is usually NOT included in the ticket price. FWIW there is also a 'processing fee' added at the kiosk. Can't remember how much that was.

Confusing isn't it!

Airport terminal fees from NAIA (Manila) and MCIA (Cebu) had gone up from 550 to 750. And thats Philippines! they take so much from our pockets. Tax and fees in all forms.

I was just there, paid no taxes at MNL, all taxes were included in my online ticket prices, two flights out of MNL:

1st flight: Philippine Airlines Manila to Cebu on Aug. 21 (ticket purchased online @ philippineairlines.com)

2nd flight: United Airlines Manila to Guam on Aug. 24 (ticket purchased online @ united.com)

Also noteworthy was that the inter terminal shuttle buses (often described as unreliable and costing 20P) were operating & free, however they were not following their posted schedule but appeared just to circulate as quickly as they can. The airport seems to be making an effort to spiff up this service & make it more reliable.

Also, on the sidewalk outside terminal 2 (all Philippine Airlines -- PAL) there were PAL reps greeting departing passengers and steering them to the best ground transport to get to their next terminal

Posted schedules were 40 minutes between terminals 1 & 2 (seemed to be running at about 30 minutes), 50 minutes between terminals 2/3/4 (no idea as to how frequently this one was running)

Terminal 3 (I arrived on ANA from Tokyo) has an indoor waiting area for this shuttle, just follow the signs for interminal bus. It's not so clear where to go outside terminal 2, ask people in uniforms (think I ended up at slot 14?).

I bought tickets for Delta for my fiance and I to fly to the US, and the taxes and terminal fees were included. General consensus seems to be tax/fee inclusion depends on the airline. Check your itemized receipt to be sure.

I saw no place to pay them, unlike CEB where the departure tax counter (still in use) is conspicuous and can't be missed.

If it were optionally included in your fares, there is no way really to tell at the airport. That type of information is not on the boarding passes, and most travelers don't carry complete receipts for E-tickets.

Edited to add:

You'll find more info here: No more NAIA Terminal Fee
