AP card mailed on Day 29 but not EAD

Hello fabulous people - looking for your thoughts on my latest strange update from USCIS.

My AOS packet was received by USCIS on July 14. I received all my text/email NOAs, and paper NOAs (though somehow the I-131 was returned by the Post Office). Then, completed my biometrics appointment shortly after.

On August 12, exactly 29 days after filing, I woke up to this notification for my I-131 (AP):

On August 12, 2016, we mailed your document for Receipt Number MSC1691349181, directly to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your document by September 11, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request the document be sent to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

However, no change in my I-765 (EAD) case status, which is still at "Case was received on July 14." I have read many threads about EAD statuses updating before AP does, and people receiving combo cards anyway, but curious as to whether the reverse has happened to anyone? Could this really be happening? I am in disbelief.

I'm currently waiting to see what shows up in my mailbox as it has only been 2 business days since, but this doesn't seem right as it is way ahead of schedule. Any thoughts?

Much appreciated xx

You can try contacting them about the status of your EAD, but they have been taking 90+ days lately to be approved. This is most likely why it has not been approved yet.

Did you apply for an expedite of your AP? Not sure why it was approved so quickly and ahead of the EAD. Sometimes they still issue paper AP documents separately instead of a combo card, usually when someone needs an expedited/emergency AP.

Nope, didn't request an expedite at all. This is baffling.

The weird situation continues... So after the case status for my I-131 changed to "Document was mailed" on August 12, I received a letter today in the mail with my paper NOA for my I-131 (which I had never received, it was returned to USCIS by the post office for whatever reason).

The strange thing is that the NOA has a red stamp on it that says:

Action Completed

Approved for Filing

Date: 8-12-16

Some other letters and codes

What is going on? Does anyone know? I have scoured the Internet but no one seems to know what this stamp means, or whether that means my AP is on the way!
