Hello everyone my name is Mike and I'm from California. I just filed a K1 visa for my fiancé back in the Philippines last July 7, 2016. As of now I've only received a receipt that they got my payment but it also says that our application is in process. Would that be consider as "NOA1"?? and if it is, how long will it take to get NOA2?. What happens after NOA2? Thank you.

If you fill in your timeline it will give you a circa date for NOA2 but it can come before or after.

What you got is your NOA1 yes and you will probably get NOA 2 in about 90+ days..(if no rfe)

FN&KO,

do you mind if I ask why it took a long time for your K1 visa? I just comparing them to the other ones that only took less than 6 months? thank you

He was processed at Texas Service Center just before they handed everything over to California Service Center.

Texas (TSC) was really backlogged at that time, took a really long time between NOA1 and NOA2.

So think of yourself as being lucky that you will be forwarded to Cali (CSC)

And some embassies have a long wait for a interview and others you can get one right away it just really just depends on so much. PI is fast so again you are lucky.

California can be super slow too, ours took almost 6 months from NOA1 to NOA2 with no RFE.

USCIS is a lottery.

But yours was not "normal" ... Yes it can happen to everybody but most don't wait that long.

I didn't say it was normal, I just said California can be super slow too. There's no way of knowing beforehand.

I'm the she, but yes, we were at TSC and we were really really backlogged!

CSC has also been backlogged before too and then TSC was popping petitions out like candy. Then they flip-flipped and we got stuck at TSC.

The wait made us learn patience and we came out stronger!

The waiting is the worst (and our wait was nothing compared to yours), but no matter how long you have to wait it's so worth it in the end. (L)

Yes, that is the NOA1. The NOA2 is about 3-5 months down the road. Make sure your fiance starts getting her ducks in a row in regards to what she needs for the interview.

The timeline is in your profile. It lets other people see where you are in the process of the whole thing. That way we can actually help you better if you fill it in. When did you file for your fiance? Do understand it can take 6-9 months before you get the NOA2, so make sure she gets her ducks in a row in regards to what she needs for the interview.
