This is new to me. I have friends at church that were in the same situation. They are just the most disgustingly sweet and in-love couple I have ever met. Even after several years, they are still like two teenagers in love. She is the most wonderful wife ever, and he is the happiest husband ever. He is from here and she is from the PI.

After a LOT of bad dating here in my area, I finally gave up and asked her if she has any single friends back home like her. She introduced me to her old college friend Yolanda. We have been talking online and on Skype for about a year and a half now. I am going to finally fly out to the PI in September so we can meet face-to-face and spend a couple of weeks together.

I was looking at lawyers to do the K-1 paperwork and stumbled across the VJ site. I work in Law Enforcement, and she works in a gov't legal office. It seems that between the two of us, we should be able to fill out the paperwork ourselves. I have looked around the site a bit, and this seems like the place to be. As I get more familiar with the site and what is here and where everything is, I will probably have a zillion questions. Right now, I do not even know what I do not know.

Anyhoo, Hi Everyone! Happy to be here.

Take the blank forms with you to the meeting

it is a lot eaiser to fill out with her

you need 4 passplorts size photos of her

copy of her passport

her letter of intent to marry within 90 days of coming to US

the application I 129 ( I 130 if you do marry there)

the G 325 form is for biography

like i said look at USCIS site and see what you need and get this all done before you come home

and make this a romantic and beautiful time

good luck

and forget the lawyer / if you want to send anyone money i can give you my address / this is a joke of course but lawyers for this are pretty much a waste of money

Hi, and welcome :) I think we have all been where you are now . My wife and i decided against wasting money on lawyers and are in our final stages now. It seems like a long time to be together but i actually think it is going faster without a lawyer . Everything you need to know can be found here , there are some very good resources here and a lot of great people to give great advice . Good luck with your first meeting in person . There are no words for the first time you see her in person :D

Right now, I do not even know what I do not know.

By this admission, you're miles ahead of many others here.

Welcome to the forum.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
